Traveling the world has taught me many things about people, culture, traditions, and faith. I have traveled to more than 40 countries, and along the way, I have seen how differently people live their lives. I have visited places where people worship different gods, follow ancient traditions, pray to idols, or practice beliefs that have been passed down for generations.
I am not here to judge anyone’s lifestyle or beliefs. My purpose is to share what I believe and what the Bible teaches about worshipping God.
As a Christian, I believe there is one true God—the Creator of heaven and earth. The Bible teaches that God alone deserves our worship.
You shall have no other gods before me. — Exodus 20:3
This command is simple and direct. God does not want us to place idols, spirits, possessions, money, traditions, or other gods above Him.
What Does the Bible Say About Pagan Gods?
Throughout the Bible, God repeatedly warned His people not to worship the gods of other nations. Pagan worship often involved idols and religious practices that were contrary to God's commands.
Psalm 96:5 says:
“For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the Lord made the heavens.” — Psalm 96:5
The Bible also warns that spiritual forces can exist behind false worship. In 1 Corinthians 10:20, Paul warns believers against participating in sacrifices offered to demons. This is one reason Christians are instructed to be careful about what they worship and what spiritual practices they participate in.
Living According to God's Word
From my Christian perspective, I believe that moving away from God can bring spiritual confusion and struggle into our lives. This does not mean that Christians never experience hardship. The Bible makes it clear that believers also face difficulties. However, faith in God gives us a foundation, direction, hope, and wisdom during those difficult seasons.
God is very specific about how He wants His people to live. The Bible teaches us to love God, love others, forgive, pray, avoid evil, seek wisdom, and put our trust in Him.
Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us:
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
Choose Who You Will Follow
Every person has the freedom to make choices about faith. My travels have helped me understand that people come from many different backgrounds, and I believe we should treat people with respect even when we disagree with their beliefs.
At the same time, I will not hide what I believe. I believe in the God who created heaven and earth, and I believe His Word gives us guidance for how we should live.
Joshua 24:15 gives us a powerful reminder:
“Choose you this day whom ye will serve.”
For me, that choice is clear. I choose to follow the one true God, trust His Word, and continue learning how to live according to His will.
